Pina Colada Dip

Be sure to try my Pina Colada Bites too—they’re an adults-only treat made with real alcohol, making them the perfect party treat for satisfying your island-inspired sweet tooth.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

If you love the sweet, tropical flavor of a classic pina colada, you’re going to fall in love with Pina Colada Dip! This creamy dessert dip takes everything people love about the famous cocktail—juicy pineapple, rich coconut, and tropical island vibes—and transforms it into a fun, shareable treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Instead of serving a drink, you get all those delicious flavors in a fluffy, scoopable dip that pairs perfectly with fresh fruit, cookies, and other sweet snacks. It’s easy, refreshing, and guaranteed to disappear quickly whenever it’s served!

If you’re looking for an easy dessert that feels bright, summery, and a little bit special, Pina Colada Dip deserves a spot on your menu. One bite is all it takes to understand why this tropical favorite keeps becoming a hit at parties, cookouts, and family gatherings!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Sweetened coconut- toasted
  • Cream cheese- softened
  • Marshmallow fluff
  • Cool Whip- thawed
  • Crushed pineapple
  • Maraschino cherries- for topping

Pina Colada Dip is a sweet and creamy dessert dip inspired by the beloved tropical cocktail. The combination of pineapple and coconut creates a flavor that’s bright, fruity, and perfectly balanced with a rich, creamy texture.

When temperatures start rising, heavy desserts often take a backseat to lighter, more refreshing options. That’s where this pineapple coconut dip really shines. Served cold, it’s cool, creamy, and refreshing on hot days. Whether you’re hosting a barbecue, spending the afternoon by the pool, or bringing a dish to a potluck, this tropical dessert fits right in.

Think of it as a tropical vacation in a bowl! Every bite delivers the same refreshing taste that made pina coladas famous, but in a way that’s easy to share with friends and family.

One of the biggest reasons people love Pina Colada Dip is how incredibly easy it is to make. It comes together quickly with simple ingredients, making it perfect for last-minute gatherings, summer parties, and holiday celebrations.

It’s also one of those recipes that feels special without requiring a lot of effort. The tropical flavors instantly make people think of warm beaches, sunshine, and summer vacations. Even if you’re serving it in your own backyard, it brings a little taste of the tropics to the table!

How to make the best Pina Colada Dip:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and pour the sweetened shredded coconut onto a baking sheet.
  • Toast the coconut in the oven for 10-15 minutes, making sure to toss it around every 3-5 minutes so it doesn’t burn, then set aside to cool.
  • Combine softened cream cheese with the marshmallow fluff and mix until smooth, then fold in the thawed Cool Whip.
  • Add in the crushed pineapple and 1 cup of the toasted coconut from earlier then fold to combine.
  • Transfer the dip into a serving dish and spread it into an even layer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • When you’re ready to serve, top with the remaining toasted coconut and however many maraschino cherries your heart desires!

Pina Colada Dip tastes like a cross between a tropical cheesecake filling and a classic pina colada. It’s light, fluffy, and packed with sunny island flavor!’

One of the best things about this tropical fruit dip is how versatile it is. It works just as well for casual family get-togethers as it does for larger celebrations.

Guests are naturally drawn to fun, shareable desserts, and this dip always gets attention. The tropical flavors are familiar enough to appeal to almost everyone, but unique enough to feel a little different from the usual dessert table offerings.

Because it’s served as a dip, it encourages people to snack, mingle, and come back for just one more bite!

My top tips:

  • TOASTING THE COCONUT: I recommend toasting your shredded coconut before assembling this dip to improve the texture and enhance the natural coconut flavor. Make sure to watch it very closely in the oven, as it can burn quickly.
  • ELECTRIC MIXER: I do recommend bringing out your electric mixer for this dip because it makes combining the ingredients a breeze and whips a lot of air into the ingredients making them extra light and fluffy!
  • SOFTENED CREAM CHEESE: Softened cream cheese is key in this recipe! It’s super important to make sure your cream cheese is fully softened so that it incorporates into the other ingredients easily and ensures your dip will be super smooth rather than lumpy.
  • COOL WHIP: Using frozen whipped topping adds even more ease and convenience to this already easy recipe! Rather than taking the time to whip heavy cream, just make sure your whipped topping is fully thawed before use.
  • CHILLING: This Pina Colada Dip will thicken slightly as it chills. I recommend letting it chill for at least 1 hour before serving so that it’s a better consistency for dipping.
  • MAKING IN ADVANCE: You can make this dip ahead of time and store it covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you are adding toasted coconut, maraschino cherries, or chopped nuts as a topping, wait and add them just before serving so they don’t get soggy.
