BLT dip is a cold and creamy ranch dip topped with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and bacon! Your favorite sandwich, in dip form!
Why you’ll love this recipe:
If you’re on the hunt for the perfect appetizer, look no further! Salty bacon, crisp lettuce, and sweet tomato make this BLT dip hard to resist! Not to mention, it’s made from simple ingredients and easy enough to throw together in a matter of minutes.
Dips are always one of the first things to go at parties, and BLT dip is a fun alternative to the classic BLT sandwich. Perfect for serving poolside, at picnics or potlucks! It’s an easy party dip everyone will love!
Ingredients you’ll need:
- Cream cheese- softened
- Sour cream
- Ranch seasoning
- Romain lettuce- chopped
- Roma tomatoes- chopped
- Colby jack cheese- shredded (cheddar cheese works too)
- Bacon- cooked and crumbled
Simple substitutions:
- If you don’t like sour cream, you can use mayo, plain Greek yogurt, or a combination of all three.
- Roma tomatoes are great for this dip because they don’t have too many seeds, but cherry or grape tomatoes would be a great substitute too.
- Don’t like romaine lettuce? No problem! Iceberg lettuce is perfectly fine.
- You can use pre-cooked bacon bits for convenience, but I do recommend cooking your own bacon in advance for the best flavor and crunchy texture! I like baking mine in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes but frying it up in a pan until crispy works too!
How to make the best BLT dip:
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning. Mix until smooth, then transfer the mixture to a 9-inch pie plate.
- Spread the creamy mixture into an even layer, then top with lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, and crumbled bacon.
- Optionally refrigerate for 1-2 hours, then serve alongside your favorite dippers.
Other than the classic combo of bacon lettuce and tomato, one of my favorite things about making a dip like this is that you can serve it alongside a variety of dippers! Here are some of my top picks:
- Potato chips- I recommend wavy or kettle cooked due to their sturdiness
- Tortilla chips
- Pita chips
- Pretzel chips
- Veggies- mini bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers or celery are great options
- Crackers
- Crostini or bagel chips- this is most similar to having an actual BLT sandwich
My top tips:
- Make sure your cream cheese is softened to room temperature. This ensures it’ll combine smoothly with the sour cream and ranch seasoning to create a creamy base layer for this dip.
- I recommend chopping the tomatoes as you normally would, then letting them sit on a paper towel for a few minutes to soak up any excess moisture. This will prevent your dip from becoming soggy from the wet tomatoes.
- This dip is best enjoyed day of, but if you want to make it ahead of time, you can always prepare the base layer of cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning in advance (just cover and store in the fridge), then add the toppings once you’re closer to serving.
- You can use a round baking dish, skillet, cake pan, or anything that has a 9-inch diameter for assembling and serving this BLT dip.
