I’ve been baking for years, and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that homemade treats don’t have to be complicated. That’s why I love this recipe, it starts with a simple boxed brownie mix, so you get all the rich, fudgy goodness without extra fuss.
These bite-size brownies are simple, full of chocolate, and easy to share with friends if you don’t eat them all yourself first! Whenever I have a craving for Reese’s peanut butter cups, I can never stop at just one, so I made these mini peanut butter brownies to get a double dose of chocolate while easily being able to eat multiple mini peanut butter brownies in one sitting.
I also love that they are so easy to put together. Basically, you just prepare a brownie mix according to the package directions, but bake in mini muffin tins before adding the Reese’s peanut butter cups, BUT WAIT! To make these sweet treats extra good, I topped these with melted peanut butter chips and Reese’s Pieces because, well, why not?
Don’t overlook the power of this sweet treat! These loaded Reese’s brownies are made using simple ingredients, and end up being the perfect quick dessert. While I’m still a big fan of regular brownies, there’s no denying these fudgy Reese’s Brownie Bites are at the top of my list.
Reese’s candies is one of those fun twists that give this easy recipe huge flavor. The brownie has a fudgy texture, while the top is loaded with peanut butter goodness. I’ve made Reese’s peanut butter cup brownies for birthdays, holidays,, parties, and weekend treats, and no one can ever stop at just one!

My top tips:
- BROWNIE MIX: You already know I had to throw a shortcut in here somewhere so we’re using a boxed brownie mix to make this recipe even easier! I swear the Ghirahdelli double chocolate brownie mix is just as good (if not better) than any other brownie recipe I’ve tried. If you’d still like to make yours from scratch, just be sure you use a recipe that traditionally fits a 9×9 pan.
- GREASE YOUR PAN: Make sure you grease your mini muffin tin generously with non-stick cooking spray before adding the brownie batter. It’s no fun to make a dessert just for it to get stuck in the pan!
- REESE’S CUPS: It’s important to press the miniature Reese’s cups into the baked brownies immediately out of the oven, while the brownies are still warm. If you try to add them once the brownies have cooled, they will be very hard to press, and the candy will not stick properly.
- MELTING: I recommend heating the peanut butter chips and oil in 30 second intervals because the chocolate can burn and seize easily. It’s hard to reverse clumpy chocolate, so I recommend watching it closely! You can also use ½ cup white chocolate chips and ¼ cup creamy peanut butter for the topping if you can’t find peanut butter chips near you.
- TOPPING: I like topping these Reese’s Brownie Bites with Reese’s Pieces to continue the Reese’s theme, but you could also use chopped peanuts or mini chocolate chips. It’s just important to top these while the chocolate is still wet. The wet chocolate acts as a glue, then once the chocolate sets, the toppings will stay in place.
- COOLING: I recommend letting these brownie bites set at room temperature. If your house is warm, refrigerating can help the chocolate topping firm up, but I wouldn’t store them long-term in the refrigerator, as the candy inside might become too hard.
- REMOVING FROM THE PAN: I don’t recommend removing these brownie bites from the muffin tin until the brownies are fully cooled. If the edges of the brownies seem to be stuck to the pan, you can run a butter knife around the edges to loosen each cup.
- STORING: Transfer any leftovers into an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 1 week.
