These easy Peanut Butter Buckeye Pretzels are absolutely perfect for the chocolate and peanut butter lovers like me! If you like these, you’ll love my Buckeye Graham Crackers too!

Why you’ll love this recipe:
As much as I love buckeyes, it’s fun to mix it up sometimes too! These buckeye pretzels feature peanut butter balls sandwiched between pretzels and dipped in chocolate; it’s a salty-sweet twist on a classic!
These peanut butter buckeye pretzel bites are the best of the best. They combine so many of my favorite sweets into one delicious bite-sized treat. First, you’ve got peanut butter and chocolate. Then you’ve got the delicious mix of sweet and salty. And then the pretzel gives them the perfect crunch! You won’t be able to stop at just one!
There’s just something irresistible about a chocolate and peanut butter combination, isn’t there? Toss in some pretzels, then make it bite-sized and snackable? It’s a combo that makes these perfectly snackable little bites dangerous, because they’re just so easy (and tasty) to pop in your mouth.

Ingredients you’ll need:
- Creamy peanut butter
- Butter- softened
- Vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar
- Mini pretzel twists
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Vegetable oil

Take everyone’s favorite iconic buckeye treat, add pretzels to get that sweet-and-salty combo we all love, and you’ve got yourself a batch of super tasty Peanut Butter Buckeye Pretzels! They’re loaded with salty, crunchy, peanut butter-chocolate deliciousness that’s perfect for gifting and snacking!
If I’m being honest, these might be even better than regular buckeye candies. The pretzels add the perfect salty crunch, plus they’re much easier to dip in the chocolate because you’ll just dip them halfway in and that way you’ve got a little handle for dipping!
Even better, there’s no need to turn on that oven for these little bites. A simple no-bake peanut butter filling, pretzel snaps, and melted chocolate chips come together to create this adorable and tasty no-bake treat!
How to make the best Peanut Butter Buckeye Pretzels:
- Space out half of your pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, then set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine creamy peanut butter, softened butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar.
- Roll the peanut butter filling into balls roughly 1 inch in size, then place one ball on top of each pretzel twist. Sandwich with another pretzel, then set aside.
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine chocolate chips with vegetable oil. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- Dip each pretzel bite halfway into the melted chocolate, then return to your prepared baking sheet. Transfer to the fridge to let the chocolate set before enjoying!

You know that classic favorite Christmas treat, peanut butter buckeye candies? With their deliciously creamy sweetened peanut butter centers peeking up through their chocolate-dipped bottoms? Well, Peanut Butter Buckeye Pretzels are a fun pretzel take on that iconic sweet treat! And I must say, I’m pretty much obsessed with this crunchy pretzel twist on the classic.
The filling is made very much like the traditional buckeyes– a mixture of peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar is rolled into balls, then sandwiched in-between two pretzel twists and dipped in melted chocolate!
The kicker is the crunchy pretzel twists – they add a kick of salty and a little bit of crunch to what is already an unbelievable treat. And you all know that next to peanut butter and chocolate together, the other thing I can’t resist is a sweet/salty combo. Bonus for me – I get it all right here in one little bite!
My top tips:
- PRETZEL VARIETIES: I like using mini pretzel twists for this recipe, but pretzel snaps or waffle pretzels work great too!
- PEANUT BUTTER MIXTURE: If you have an electric mixer, I recommend bringing it out to combine the peanut butter ball mixture. I find the peanut butter mixture is smoother and comes together much easier this way.
- SANDWICHING: When sandwiching the peanut butter balls with another pretzel twist, you just want to press down lightly so that the dough flattens out a little to fill both pretzels.
- MELTING CHOCOLATE: It’s best to microwave the chocolate in 30 second intervals to prevent any burning. I also like adding vegetable oil to the chocolate to thin it out a little and make it a better consistency for dipping. You could use coconut oil or another neutral oil for a similar result.
- PREPARED BAKING SHEET: Be sure to let the chocolate dipped pretzels set on a sheet of parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking. This ensures the chilled chocolate will easily release from the baking sheet when you’re ready to enjoy.
- CHILLING: You can let these pretzel bites set at room temperature, but it will take hours for the chocolate to fully harden. To speed up the process, feel free to place them in the fridge or freezer for 15 minutes to set the chocolate faster!
- STORING: I recommend transferring any leftovers into an airtight container and storing in the fridge for up to 1 week. These may also be stored at room temperature – just keep them in a cool place to prevent the chocolate from melting.

These little bites look so fun on a dessert tray and are perfect for sharing with family and friends at potlucks, or parties and are always a popular, fun treat! Peanut butter pretzels are just the perfect little treat!
