How to make the best Reese’s bark:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, until melted and smooth.
- Pour half of the melted chocolate mixture onto your prepared baking sheet and spread into a rectangle that is roughly 9×13 inches in size. Transfer to the fridge or freezer to harden.
- In the meantime, combine creamy peanut butter, softened butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Drop pieces of the peanut butter mixture all over the layer of chilled chocolate, then press into an even layer.
- Pour the remaining melted chocolate mixture on top, then spread to cover the peanut butter layer.
- Sprinkle Reese’s pieces candies on top, then transfer back to the fridge or freezer to set completely before breaking into pieces.

My top tips:
- PREP YOUR PAN: Make sure to line your sheet pan with parchment paper, wax paper, or a silicone baking mat to prevent any sticking. This makes breaking up the hardened bark so much easier later on!
- MELTING THE CHOCOLATE: I recommend microwaving the chocolate in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, to prevent any burning. I also like adding vegetable oil to the chocolate to thin it out a little and make it more spreadable. You could use coconut oil for a similar result.
- CHILLING THE CHOCOLATE: It’s important to chill the bottom layer of chocolate before adding the peanut butter layer because it makes it much easier to spread on the peanut butter mixture once the bottom layer of chocolate has hardened.
- ELECTRIC MIXER: I recommend using an electric hand mixer for this recipe because it ensures the peanut butter and butter are incorporated smoothly without any lumps. It also makes the peanut butter layer of this bark super soft and fluffy!
- SPREADING: If you’re finding it challenging to press the peanut butter mixture into an even layer using your fingertips, I recommend adding a little water to your fingers to prevent any sticking. You can also use a silicone spatula to press the mixture into an even layer.
- REESE’S PIECES: It’s important to sprinkle the Reese’s pieces onto the chocolate is still wet. The wet chocolate acts as a glue for adhering the candies. Once the chocolate sets, the Reese’s pieces will stay in place.
- CHILLING AND BREAKING: You’ll want to let the chocolate harden completely before breaking this Reese’s bark into pieces. The chocolate is what holds everything together, so it’s important that it sets up first. I place mine in the freezer to speed up the chilling process, but the fridge works too!
- STORING: Once this Reese’s bark is fully set and broken into pieces, I like storing any leftovers in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the fridge. This keeps the bark snappy and fresh for up to a week!

Hiday says
can you sub almond bark for the chocolate chips? and can you add peanut butter to the chocolate mixture instead of peanut butter chips?
Sophie says
Hi Hiday! You can absolutely substitute the chocolate chips for almond bark. I haven’t tried peanut butter in place of using peanut butter chips, but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work! If you try it out, come back and let us know how it goes! 馃檪

I left a comment on here days ago, not sure why it got deleted. I was just asking if you could sub chocolate chips for almond bark and if you could use real peanut butter in the chocolate mix instead of peanut butter chips
