If peppermint treats are up your alley, you’ll also like my Peppermint Bark Graham Crackers, No Bake Thin Mints, Mint Chocolate Bark, Mint Chocolate Chip Dip, and Marshmallow Peppermint Bark!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

These classic no-bake mints are smooth, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth delicious—and incredibly easy to make. Whether you need a last-minute dessert, a colorful gift, or a nostalgic holiday candy, cream cheese mints always steal the show!

One of the biggest reasons people love Christmas Cream Cheese Mints is the nostalgia they bring. Many of us grew up seeing them at church gatherings, cookie exchanges, and holiday parties, where they were always one of the first treats to disappear. Their flavor is comforting and familiar, combining the richness of cream cheese with the refreshing coolness of peppermint. The texture is part of the magic—soft like fudge, but with the lightness of a mint, giving you the perfect bite-sized sweet to enjoy after a big holiday meal.

Another reason they’ve remained so popular is how easy they are to prepare. There’s no baking involved, no complicated steps, and no special equipment required. With just cream cheese, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and some sprinkles, you can create a big batch in under 30 minutes. The dough comes together quickly, and it’s simple to roll into balls, press with a fork, or shape using small holiday molds. Kids love helping with these, making them a great family activity during the Christmas season.

These soft, colorful little candies have been a Christmas tradition for generations, and once you taste them, it’s easy to see why. They’re creamy, sweet, lightly pepperminty, and melt in your mouth in the most irresistible way. Plus, they’re incredibly simple to make, which makes them ideal for busy holiday schedules.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Cream cheese- softened
  • Powdered sugar
  • Peppermint extract
  • Milk
  • Festive sprinkles

What makes Christmas Cream Cheese Mints so timeless is how effortlessly they come together. You only need a handful of ingredients—cream cheese, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and sprinkles—to create a batch large enough for gifting or entertaining. There’s no baking, no candy thermometer, and no complicated steps. Whether you’re an experienced baker or a beginner who wants a foolproof recipe, cream cheese mints are extremely approachable!

Part of their magic is the texture. Unlike hard peppermints, cream cheese mints are smooth and creamy, almost like peppermint fudge. They hold their shape, yet they melt on your tongue with a cool, sweet finish. It’s a flavor that feels comforting and familiar, which is why so many people associate these mints with holidays and celebrations from their childhood.

How to make the best Christmas Cream Cheese Mints:

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 2 cups of powdered sugar, and peppermint extract. Using an electric mixer, mix until smooth.
  • Add the remaining powdered sugar and milk, then mix until combined. Fold in 2 tablespoons of sprinkles, but be careful not to over mix – the sprinkles can bleed their colors.
  • Roll the mixture into 1 tsp sized balls, if the dough is sticky, try refrigerating it for 10 minutes or dust your hands with powdered sugar.
  • Pour the remaining sprinkles into a shallow bowl and roll the balls to coat them.
  • Place the balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Press each ball flat using the tines of a fork. Aim for about 1/4 inch thickness
  • Let the mints dry on the counter for about an hour, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze them for up to 3 months.

The red, green, and white sprinkles in these cream cheese mints instantly add holiday cheer to dessert tables, gift boxes, and cookie platters. They look beautiful arranged with cookies and fudge, and because they’re small and delicate, they add a lovely pop of color wherever they’re placed. They’re also wonderful for gifting—just pack them into tins, jars, or small bags, and you have an inexpensive but thoughtful homemade Christmas present.

If you’ve never tasted them before, imagine the creamy richness of a cheesecake combined with the cool flavor of peppermint, all in a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. They’re sweeter than a traditional mint but lighter than fudge, striking a perfect balance that makes them surprisingly addictive. They’re the kind of treat you grab “just one more” of… and then suddenly realize you’ve eaten five.

Because they store well and can be made ahead, cream cheese mints are ideal when you need something easy that still feels special. Arrange them on a platter for a party, package them in small bags for favors, or tuck them into a cookie tin to add variety. No matter how you serve them, they bring a pop of color and a touch of old-fashioned charm that people love!

My top tips:

  • ELECTRIC MIXER: I do recommend bringing out your electric mixer to mix the peppermint filling because it makes combining the ingredients a breeze and whips a lot of air into the mixture making it extra smooth and creamy!
  • PEPPERMINT: Traditionally these are peppermint flavored but feel free to experiment with your favorite flavorings like lemon, cinnamon, almond, or even just vanilla if you like. Be sure you are using peppermint extract though — don’t be tempted to use spearmint, or all-purpose mint flavoring — you’ll wind up with something that tastes of toothpaste, and that’s not what we’re after!
  • STICKY DOUGH: If you find that your peppermint mixture is sticky, add more powdered sugar 1 tablespoon at a time, until it is no longer sticky and can easily be rolled into balls.
  • CUSTOMIZING: Add a drop of gel food coloring to make pastel pink or green mints. Pastel colors are perfect for making wedding mints or baby shower mints! Not a fan of sprinkles? Use crushed candy canes for an extra festive and crunchy coating.
  • SHAPING: I love the look of the little discs with the fork marks in the top but there are many different ways to shape these mints.  You can just roll them into little balls.  You can roll the dough out into a log and just cut off little pieces.  I have even seen some people press them into little molds and then you have cute shaped mints.  You can really make these into any shape you like.
  • STORING: Your homemade cream cheese mints can be served at room temperature for a couple hours. However, since they are made with cream cheese, these holiday mints do need to be refrigerated for long-term storage. You can keep the mints in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
