Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats are sweet-and-salty bars made with melted marshmallows and crunchy Cheez-It crackers!

Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats

Once you discover how good Cheez-Its are in dessert, you’ll want to try all of my creative Cheez-It dessert recipes like Churro Cheez-It Crackers and Cheez-It Peanut Butter Toffee Squares.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

If you’ve never tried Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats, prepare to be pleasantly surprised! At first glance, the combination of melted marshmallows and cheesy crackers might seem a little unexpected. One bite, though, and it all makes sense.

These sweet-and-salty bars are a fun spin on traditional cereal treats, swapping out rice cereal for crunchy Cheez-It crackers. The result is a chewy, gooey dessert with just the right amount of buttery cheddar flavor mixed into every bite. They’re nostalgic, a little quirky, and completely irresistible.

One of the best things about Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats is how easy they are to make. Since they’re a no-bake dessert, you don’t have to worry about preheating the oven or spending hours in the kitchen. A few simple ingredients, one saucepan, and a pan for pressing everything together are all you need. They’re the kind of recipe you can throw together when a craving strikes or when you need a last-minute treat for a party or gathering.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cheez-It crackers

The flavor is what really makes these bars stand out. The marshmallows bring plenty of sweetness and that classic chewy texture everyone loves in a cereal treat. The Cheez-It crackers add crunch and a subtle savory note that keeps the bars from tasting overly sweet. Instead of competing with each other, the flavors work together in a way that’s surprisingly balanced and incredibly snackable.

If you’re a fan of chocolate-covered pretzels, salted caramel, or kettle corn, you’ll understand the appeal right away. Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats tap into that same sweet-and-salty magic that makes it nearly impossible to stop at just one piece!

They’re also a great conversation starter. Everyone expects traditional marshmallow cereal treats, but serving a batch made with Cheez-Its always gets people’s attention. It’s the kind of recipe that makes someone ask, “Wait, what’s in these?” before immediately reaching for a second square.

Whether you’re looking for a unique party treat, an easy dessert recipe, or a creative way to use a box of Cheez-It crackers, these sweet-and-salty bars deliver big flavor with minimal effort!

How to make the best Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats:

  • In a medium saucepan combine mini marshmallows and butter. Stir over medium-low heat until melted and smooth, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Fold in Cheez-It crackers, then transfer the mixture into a parchment paper lined 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish and press into an even layer.
  • Let cool completely, then cut into squares before enjoying!

Another reason people love Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats is that they’re kid-friendly and crowd-pleasing. Kids love the gooey marshmallow texture, while adults appreciate the nostalgic cracker flavor and unique twist on a classic dessert. They’re equally at home on a holiday dessert table, at a potluck, during a movie night, or packed into lunchboxes.

The beauty of this recipe is that it takes something familiar and turns it into something completely new. By replacing cereal with crunchy Cheez-It crackers, you get a dessert that’s playful, unexpected, and packed with texture. Every bite delivers a little sweetness, a little saltiness, and plenty of crunch.

If you’re looking for an easy no-bake dessert that’s different from the usual cookies, brownies, or cereal bars, Cheez-It Marshmallow Treats are absolutely worth making. They’re simple, fun, and proof that sometimes the most unexpected combinations end up being the most delicious!

My top tips:

  • LINE YOUR PAN: It’s important to line your baking pan with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent any sticking. These bars have a lot of marshmallows in them and are very chewy – if you don’t line your pan they will stick.
  • WORK WITH LOW HEAT: Make sure your heat is set to medium-low when melting down the butter and marshmallows. Doing this step slowly, and stirring continuously, will ensure that nothing burns, and your finished product will be super soft and chewy.
  • PRESSING INTO THE PAN: The marshmallow treat mixture is very sticky and can be hard to spread and press with a spatula. I recommend lightly wetting your fingertips, or a square of parchment paper, and using that to gently press the mixture into the pan to avoid a sticky mess.
  • CHILLING: You can let these treats set at room temperature, but it will take at least an hour for them to fully set up. To speed up the process, feel free to place these treats in the fridge for 30 minutes to allow time for the marshmallow to set up so the treats don’t fall apart when you go to slice them.
  • STORING: Store these in an airtight container in a cool, dry place at room temperature for up to 1 week!
