Is there anything better than the combination of chocolate and caramel? These caramel brownie bugles bring the two together for a sweet, salty, crunchy, and completely addicting treat!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

Crunchy, salty bugles get coated in melted caramel filled Rolos, then tossed in brownie mix for the ultimate snack! So good, you’ll want to eat the whole batch yourself!

One of my favorite things about using bugles for this recipe is the way the melted Rolos get into the inside of each bugle! These are loaded with chocolate and caramel in every bite. Perfect for anytime snacking, holiday gifting or tailgating!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Rolos
  • Butter
  • Brownie mix
  • Original Bugles

This simple, 4 ingredient snack is always a crowd pleaser. It’s quick, easy and tastes amazing! No baking required, just a microwave and a few simple ingredients!

How to make the best caramel brownie bugles:

  • Add the brownie mix to a microwave safe bowl, then microwave for 60-90 seconds, stirring halfway through to heat-treat the raw brownie mix. Set aside.
  • In another microwave safe bowl, combine the Rolos and butter. Microwave in 30 second intervals until completely smooth and melted.
  • Add the bugles to a large Ziploc bag or large container (with a lid), then pour the melted Rolos on top. Shake the bugles around to coat in the melted Rolos.
  • Pour the heat-treated brownie mix on top of the coated bugles, then shake once more to evenly cover in brownie mix.
  • Transfer to a sheet pan to cool completely before enjoying.

The first time I made these caramel brownie bugles, they were gone in minutes! If you have family and friends that go nuts over sweet and salty combinations, you may want to double this recipe because it goes FAST!!

My top tips:

  • ROLOS: The melted Rolos may seem a little thick, but that’s just from the caramel inside. Do your best to evenly coat the bugles, but it’s ok if it’s not perfect!
  • BROWNIE MIX: I like using a brownie mix that doesn’t contain chocolate chips for this recipe so that the mix evenly coats the bugles. You could still use a mix with chocolate chips, the chocolate chips just won’t stick.
  • CONTAINER: Be sure you’re using a Ziploc bag or container that is large enough to give the bugles room to move around while being shaken up. This will prevent clumps from forming and ensure each bugle gets evenly coated.
  • HEAT-TREATING: It’s important to heat-treat your brownie mix before coating the bugles because brownie mix contains raw flour which can contain harmful bacteria when consumed raw. To heat treat the brownie mix, you can microwave it for 60-90 seconds or bake it on a sheet pan at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  • COOLING: I like letting these caramel brownie bugles cool completely on a baking sheet before storing or serving them to ensure they don’t clump together.

This sounds delicious. When you say brownie mix you mean a boxed brownie mix powder, not mixed with any on the ingredients? And you put the powder in the microwave?

Hi Jill! Yes, a boxed brownie mix is what you’ll need. I heat-treat the brownie mix in the microwave because brownie mix contains raw flour which can contain harmful bacteria when consumed raw. Hope this helps!
