There’s nearly nothing better than a good caramel apple. I’ve always loved mine drizzled with chocolate, and if you’re like me, you’re going to love this fun twist on a classic recipe. With only 6 ingredients and super simple instructions, you can make this treat in little to no time at all!
How to make the best caramel apple bark:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat, then place down a layer of Ritz crackers. Set aside.
- Add your chocolate chips and vegetable oil to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Spread ¾ of the melted chocolate on top of the crackers, then top the layer of chocolate with pretzels. Transfer for the freezer for 30 minutes to harden.
- Microwave your caramel dip for 30-45 seconds to make it easier to spread, then spread it on top of the pretzel layer.
- Sprinkle with diced apples, then drizzle the remaining melted chocolate on top.
- Transfer to the freezer for another 20 minutes to harden the chocolate drizzle.
- Once the bark is firm, cut or break into pieces before enjoying!
Skip the sticks and messy dipping! This simplified caramel apple bark just requires some microwaving, stirring, and spreading! No need for a candy thermometer here!
This caramel apple bark isn’t only fun, it’s super easy to put together! Whether it’s a last-minute snack fix or an easy dessert to share with friends and family, you’re sure to fall in love with this delicious caramel apple bark recipe.
My top tips:
- PREP YOUR PAN: Be sure to line your sheet pan with parchment paper, wax paper, or a silicone baking mat to prevent any sticking. This makes breaking up the hardened bark so much easier later on!
- MELTING THE CHOCOLATE: I recommend microwaving the chocolate in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, to prevent any burning. I also like adding vegetable oil to the chocolate to thin it out a little and make it more spreadable. You could use coconut oil for a similar result.
- CHILLING THE CHOCOLATE: It’s important to chill the layers of crackers, chocolate, and pretzels before adding the caramel and apples because it makes it much easier to spread on the caramel dip once the bottom layer of chocolate has hardened.
- CARAMEL DIP: Using store-bought caramel dip adds so much convenience to this recipe! I do recommend warming the caramel dip slightly in the microwave to make it more spreadable but that’s it!
- CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE: I find it helpful to transfer the remaining melted chocolate to a Ziploc bag before cutting off one end and drizzling. This makes the chocolate drizzle more evenly and keeps things mess free.
- CHILLING AND BREAKING: You’ll want to let the chocolate harden completely before breaking this caramel apple bark into pieces. The chocolate is what holds everything together, so it’s important that it sets up first. I place mine in the freezer to speed up the chilling process, but the fridge works too!
- STORING: This caramel apple bark is one of those things that really does taste best day of but can be stored in the fridge for 2 days before the apples begin to lose their texture and the caramel begins to weep and leave a sticky, liquid mess!
Looking for an easy and delicious fall snack? This caramel apple bark is everything you need in your life! Seriously, it checks all the boxes! The perfect balance of sweet, salty, and crunchy in every bite!

What is caramel dip? Or where is it located in the store?

Hi Sarah! I find little tubs of caramel dip near the produce section in my grocery store this time of year. Marzetti has a great caramel dip and so does Good and Gather at Target! Hope this helps!
