Baked Taco Dip

Simple baked taco dip only requires 5 ingredients to make and is ready in no time! It’s cheesy, creamy, and screaming to be dipped with your favorite tortilla chips!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

Traditional taco dips usually include some kind of meat (most of the time ground beef) but what I love most about this easy taco dip is how budget friendly it is! Leaving the meat out makes this dip super cheap and perfect to serve to a crowd.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Softened cream cheese
  • Taco seasoning
  • Diced green chilis
  • Salsa
  • Mexican blend or cheddar cheese

Am I claiming this is authentic Mexican food? Absolutely not!! I know I’m not the only one who grew up on these “white trash” dips with cream cheese and although they aren’t very fancy, they are super nostalgic for me!

How to make the best taco dip:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and taco seasoning. Once mixed, spread into an even layer on the bottom of your baking dish.
  • Spread a layer of diced green chilis on top of the cream cheese, then do the same with the salsa.
  • Sprinkle the cheese on top and bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.

This dip is so easy to make, you barely even need a recipe! It’s as simple as layering everything up, baking until bubbly and enjoying with your favorite tortilla chips!

My top tips:

  • Use softened cream cheese! It’s much easier to mix the cream cheese and taco seasoning together when your cream cheese is softened.
  • Adjust the spiciness of this dip by using a hot salsa! I usually stick to mild salsa cause I’m a wimp but if spicy is your thing, go for it!
  • You can assemble this dip in nearly in nearly any oven safe baking dish. I used a 2 quart baking dish but had lots of extra room so just use what you have!
  • Make this dip your own! If you want to add a layer of refried beans that would be delicious too!
