Pizza Roses are flower-shaped spirals of dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni baked until golden, turning classic pizza flavors into an edible bouquet!

Pizza Roses

Love anything inspired by pepperoni pizza? You have to try my Pizza Pretzel Bites, Pepperoni Pizza Dip, and Pizza Crackers too!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

Pizza Roses are individual, rose-shaped pizza rolls made by layering pepperoni (or other toppings) with cheese and sauce on dough, then rolling them up to look like blooming roses. They’re baked in a muffin tin, which helps them keep their beautiful shape. They’re essentially pizza… but prettier.

Pizza Roses are one of those recipes that instantly make people smile. They look fancy and impressive, but they’re secretly incredibly simple to make. Shaped like blooming roses and packed with all the flavors everyone loves about pizza, they’ve become one of my favorites for parties, date nights, and even casual family dinners. If you’ve been looking for a creative twist on pizza that doesn’t require extra work, Pizza Roses are it!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Pizza dough or sheet of crescent dough
  • Pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese- shredded
  • Pepperoni- thin sliced
  • Italian seasoning

At their core, Pizza Roses are just pizza dough, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni rolled into a rose shape and baked in a muffin tin. The magic is in how something so familiar turns into something that looks special. That transformation is a huge part of why people love them so much!

One of the best things about Pizza Roses is how fun they are to make. Rolling the dough and layering the pepperoni feels more like a craft project than cooking, which makes the whole process enjoyable instead of stressful. You don’t have to be perfect either—slightly uneven rolls actually make the roses look more realistic and charming. It’s the kind of recipe that’s great for cooking with kids, friends, or even just for yourself when you want something playful in the kitchen.

Pizza Roses are also refreshingly simple when it comes to ingredients too. You don’t need anything fancy or hard to find. In fact, this recipe is perfect for using store-bought pizza dough and sauce, which makes it fast and approachable for anyone. There’s no need to spend hours prepping or kneading dough from scratch unless you want to. Using pre-made ingredients lets you focus on assembling the roses and enjoying the process.

How to make the best Pizza Roses:

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Unroll the pizza dough (or crescent dough sheet) and loosely stretch it into an 11×18 inch rectangle.
  • Spread a light layer of pizza sauce onto the dough, then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 1 ½-inch strips width-wise.
  • Working with one strip of dough at a time, layer 6-7 pepperoni slices on top, overlapping each slice and positioning the pepperoni so the top halves stick out of the dough.
  • Take one end of the dough and begin rolling it up into a tight roll.
  • Place the rolled dough into the muffin pan, sprinkle with italian seasoning, and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly. Remove from the pan and serve warm with extra pizza sauce, ranch, or a drizzle of hot honey.

Taste-wise, Pizza Roses deliver exactly what you want. They taste like classic pizza, but many people think they’re even better. Because they’re baked individually, the edges get slightly crisp while the inside stays soft and cheesy. Each bite has a great balance of dough, sauce, and melted cheese, with pepperoni adding that familiar savory kick. They’re comforting, satisfying, and completely craveable.

Another reason Pizza Roses are so loved is how versatile they are. They work just as well for casual snacks as they do for special occasions. People love serving them at parties because they’re easy to grab and eat, and they look amazing on a platter. They also feel perfect for romantic dinners or themed nights when you want food that feels thoughtful without being complicated.

Pepperoni Pizza Roses are one of those recipes that never go out of style. They’re warm, cheesy, and packed with classic pizza flavor, but shaped in a way that makes them extra fun to eat. Whether you’re making them for a party, game day, or a quick family snack, Pizza Roses are always a hit. They feel familiar and exciting at the same time, which is exactly why people keep coming back to them!

My top tips:

  • PIZZA DOUGH: You can make Pizza Roses with both refrigerated crescent roll dough and refrigerated pizza dough (or even thawed puff pastry). Both work very well, but they offer slightly different textures: Crescent dough results in a softer, lighter, and more buttery/flaky texture, while pizza dough offers a more traditional, chewier, and sturdy crust.
  • PIZZA SAUCE: I think these taste best with a traditional marinara sauce or pizza sauce, but you could also make them with garlic butter, pesto, ranch, or creamy alfredo sauce.
  • CHEESE: I like shredding my own mozzarella for this recipe rather than buying pre-shredded at the grocery store. It’s not an absolute must but shredding the cheese yourself allows the cheese to melt better compared to pre-shredded cheese that usually has added starch to prevent clumping.
  • CUTTING: A pizza cutter is my favorite tool to use to cut the dough into strips. You should be able to get exactly twelve 1½ inch strips out of the dough.
  • PEPPERONI: You can use pre-sliced pepperoni for convenience or slice your own. If you slice your own, be sure the slices are very thin. This ensures the pepperoni will easily bend and roll into a pinwheel shape.
  • ROLLING: The key to achieving the “rose” shape here is to let the pepperoni hang over the edge of the dough strips, creating petals as they roll.
  • LET THEM COOL: You’ll want to let your Pizza Roses cool for 5 minutes before removing them from the pan, as the dough will be a little soft straight out of the oven.
  • STORING: Pepperoni Pizza Roses are best stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen, either baked or unbaked, for up to 3 months. To retain the best texture and crispness, reheat them in the oven or air fryer rather than in the microwave.
