These Rhodes Orange Rolls are out of this world! So simple to make because they start with frozen rolls. Sweet and tender with a sugary coating. . . they’re ridiculously good!

If you like these shortcut Rhodes Orange Rolls, you’ll also like my Kings Hawaiian Cheesecake Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls! They’re rich, decadent, and super easy to make!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

Rhodes Orange Rolls are a citrus orange version of a sweet roll. They’re light, fluffy, and glazed with a sweet orange icing.

I love orange rolls! Nothing beats a fresh homemade, gooey, sweet roll, BUT they can be really time consuming to make. I just recently discovered this cinnamon roll hack of using frozen bread dough, and I am never looking back!

These Rhodes Orange Rolls from frozen bread dough completely simplify the process of making them homemade. Since you’re starting a few steps ahead with pre-made bread dough, they come together in no time at all. Just 15 minutes of prep needed!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Rhodes frozen dinner rolls
  • Granulated sugar
  • Orange zest
  • Butter- melted
  • Powdered sugar
  • Orange juice

Can you think of a more cheerful way to say good morning than with fresh, warm orange sweet rolls? The smell alone is enough to get anyone out of bed—sunshiny citrus paired with the nostalgic fragrance of gooey cinnamon buns. Not only are these rolls drizzled in melted butter and a sugary orange mixture, but then once they’re baked they are drizzled in the most delicious orange glaze that makes my life complete!

These rolls are incredibly easy to make since they start with frozen rolls. You certainly could make your own bread dough, but why complicate things, right? These sweet rolls bring it all: pillowy, buttery dough, vibrant citrus flavor, a caramelized base that forms as the rolls bake (!!!), and a glossy orange icing that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. There’s just nothing like sweet rolls warm from the oven, especially when they’re kissed with real orange flavor.

How to make the best Rhodes Orange Rolls:

  • Place frozen rolls in a lightly greased 9×13 baking dish. Cover them with plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm spot for 4 hours or until doubled in size.
  • When ready, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, then evenly pour melted butter over the tops of the thawed rolls.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and orange zest. Spoon the sugar mixture evenly over the buttery rolls and bake for 20 minutes.
  • While rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and orange juice in a small bowl.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and let stand for 10 minutes before glazing.

These rolls are super soft, and bursting with fresh orange flavor in every bite. Then, they are topped with a generous drizzle of orange icing over the warm rolls seals the deal: citrus lovers may never go back to regular cinnamon rolls! These are the tried and true sweet rolls that will have everyone asking for the recipe.

These rolls have amazing orange flavor thanks to orange zest and a delicious orange glaze. Perfect for summer parties, holiday dinners, baby or bridal showers, brunches or a spring lunch. . . really you can and should enjoy these any time!

My top tips:

  • FROZEN ROLLS: The only thing you really have to plan for here is the time it takes for the frozen dough to rise. If you look on the back of the frozen roll package, there will be several options to thaw, I just find that setting them out at room temperature for a few hours works best for me.
  • ZESTING: Using fresh orange zest (and juice) in this recipe makes all the difference in getting the best orange flavor. Taking the time to work the orange zest into the granulated sugar also helps release the natural oils from the zest and brings out even more zesty orange flavor.
  • ICING: If preferred, you can make the icing thinner by adding more orange juice, or a little thicker by adding more powdered sugar. The most important thing to remember is that you’ll want to let the rolls cool slightly before adding the icing so that it doesn’t just soak right into the rolls.
  • STORING: At our house, there’s never any leftovers but stored in an airtight container they will last for 2-3 days. They are definitely best warm out of the oven but with a 10 second warm up in the microwave they are just as juicy the next day.
