This simple pumpkin spice snack mix is one more way to celebrate pumpkin season! Warming notes of cinnamon and a hint of pumpkin spice makes this party mix the perfect treat for fall.
I love a good snack mix, and this pumpkin spice version is perfect to satisfy a sweet tooth! If you’re looking for something more savory, give my ranch snack mix a try!
Why you’ll love this recipe:
Pumpkin spice isn’t just for lattes! Pumpkin spice snack mix is sweet, salty, and full of warming spices. It’s not overwhelmingly pumpkin flavored, in fact, there isn’t any actual pumpkin in this recipe. There’s just a hint of pumpkin spice from the cereal as well as the added pumpkin pie spice!
With only a handful of pantry staple ingredients and long shelf life, this snack mix is great for parties, holidays, homemade gifts, or anytime you’re craving something crunchy!
Ingredients you’ll need:
- Pumpkin spice Cheerios
- Cinnamon Chex
- Mini pretzel twists
- Pecans
- Butter- melted
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon
- Pumpkin pie spice
- White chocolate
- Vegetable oil
This delicious pumpkin spice mix starts with pumpkin spice Cheerios, cinnamon Chex cereal, pretzels, and pecans. Everything gets tossed in a buttery sugar mixture with a hint of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice, then baked until toasty! Finish it off with a drizzle of white chocolate and you’ll have the perfect fall snack!
How to make the best pumpkin spice snack mix:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine Cheerios, Chex cereal, pretzels, and pecans.
- Add in the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Mix until evenly coated.
- Transfer to your lined baking sheet, spread into an even layer, then bake for 15 minutes.
- While the snack mix cools, microwave white chocolate chips and vegetable oil in 30 second increments until smooth.
- Drizzle the chocolate evenly over the snack mix, then let set completely (you can transfer to the fridge to speed this up) before breaking apart and enjoying!
The crunchy clumps of snack mix with tons of cinnamon sugar are my favorite bites! You can break this snack mix into larger or smaller pieces depending on your preference. For an extra clumpy snack mix, don’t stir it around when it comes out of the oven. Simply take it out and let it cool completely before breaking into pieces.
This is a great festive treat to snack on throughout the week or make ahead of time because it stays fresh for weeks! Make sure the mix has cooled completely, then transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
My top tips:
- BAKING SHEET: Make sure you line your baking sheet to prevent sticking! This recipe makes a large amount of snack mix, so I recommend using one extra-large baking sheet, or two large sheet pans to ensure everything bakes evenly.
- CEREAL: If you can’t find the limited-edition pumpkin spice Cheerios, no problem! You can use a regular honey nut Cheerios as a substitute. The cinnamon Chex cereal is widely available, but if you’re looking for a substitute, I recommend cinnamon life cereal.
- VEGETABLE OIL: The addition of vegetable oil in the chocolate will slightly thin out the white chocolate and make it a smoother consistency for drizzling. If you don’t have vegetable oil, canola or coconut oil will work as well.
- MELTING: White chocolate can be very temperamental and burn quickly in the microwave, so I recommend microwaving in 30 second intervals and stirring in-between until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- COOLING: You’ll want to let these pretzels cool before drizzling on the white chocolate. This ensures the cinnamon and pumpkin spice sugar adheres to the snack mix fully before adding any chocolate.
- DRIZZLING: You can simply drizzle the melted chocolate onto the snack mix with a spoon, or you can transfer the chocolate to a Ziploc bag and snip off one end to create a more polished look. You’ll want the chocolate to touch as much of the snack mix as possible because that’s what will give you yummy clumps of snack mix!
- BREAKING INTO PIECES: It’s important to let the chocolate drizzle fully cool and harden before enjoying (or storing) this snack mix. Feel free to place them in the fridge for 10 minutes to make the chocolate set faster. Once set, break into smaller pieces, and enjoy!
Feel free to make this snack mix your own my switching up your mix-in’s. Peanuts would be great in place of pecans and tossing in some Halloween m&m’s or candy corn after the snack mix has baked is always a festive addition! Either way, the result is a perfectly sweet, salty, crunchy snack mix that is completely addictive!
