Pretzel Toffee is a sweet-and-salty treat made with crunchy pretzels, rich buttery toffee, and melted chocolate that creates an irresistible balance of flavor and texture in every bite!

If you like toffee, you’ll also love my Butter Toffee Pretzels, Churro Toffee, and Caramel Apple Dip!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

You’ll fall in love with this Pretzel Toffee because it has everything – the buttery sweetness of toffee, the richness of melted chocolate, and the salty snap of crunchy pretzels. It’s practically foolproof, comes together in under 30 minutes, and stores beautifully!

Pretzel Toffee tastes rich, buttery, and perfectly balanced between sweet and salty. The toffee has a deep caramel flavor that’s smooth and slightly chewy, while the pretzels add a crunchy texture and a salty bite that keeps the sweetness from being overwhelming.

When chocolate is added, it melts into the toffee and ties everything together, making each bite feel indulgent but not heavy. You get crunch from the pretzels, melt-in-your-mouth sweetness from the toffee, and just enough salt to make you want another piece. It’s comforting, addictive, and incredibly satisfying!

This sweet-and-salty dessert is also sometimes called:

  • Salted pretzel toffee
  • Chocolate pretzel toffee
  • Pretzel toffee bark

No matter the name, the result is the same: a snack that disappears fast!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Pretzel twists-divided
  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • White chocolate chips- you can use milk chocolate if you prefer
  • Vegetable oil
  • Toffee bits

Pretzel Toffee is the perfect combination of sweet, salty, crunchy, and buttery goodness. Whether you’re making it for the holidays, a party, or just a quick dessert craving, this irresistible candy delivers big flavor with surprisingly little effort.

It’s one of those treats that people try once and immediately ask for the recipe. It’s sweet, salty, crunchy, and totally addictive. The mix of buttery toffee and salty pretzels just works, and adding chocolate on top makes it even better.

One of the best things about pretzel toffee is how easy it is to make. You don’t need any special tools or baking skills, and it comes together fast. It’s perfect for last-minute desserts, holidays, or when you just want something sweet without a lot of effort.

How to make the best Pretzel Toffee:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with foil, parchment paper, or a silicone baking mat.
  • Arrange 4 cups of the pretzels in a single layer over the bottom of the baking sheet, then set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then continue boiling for 3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Remove the hot butter and brown sugar mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, then pour the toffee mixture evenly over the pretzels.
  • Bake for 5-7 minutes. It should be bubbling all over.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, combine your chocolate chips of choice with vegetable oil. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, until melted and smooth, then spread the melted chocolate on top of the Pretzel Toffee.
  • Immediately sprinkle with any desired toppings, then let the toffee and chocolate set completely. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container (put wax paper or parchment between layers) for up to 2 weeks!

Even if you’ve never made candy before, Pretzel Toffee is a great place to start! It is also super customizable. You can use milk, dark, or white chocolate, add nuts, sprinkles, or even crushed candy canes for the holidays. A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top makes it even more irresistible.

This is the kind of dessert that’s great for sharing. It looks impressive, breaks easily into pieces, and disappears fast at parties. It’s also perfect for gifting since it stores well and travels easily.

If you’re looking for a simple dessert that everyone will love, Pretzel Toffee is it. It’s easy, affordable, and always a crowd-pleaser. Once you make it, it’ll become a go-to treat you come back to again and again.

My top tips:

  • PREP FIRST:  You’ll want to line your baking sheet and measure all the ingredients ahead of time; the toffee comes together quickly, and starts to set quickly, so it’s best to have everything you need at arms reach!
  • PRETZELS: The more your pretzels overlap each other on the baking sheet, the more layers your toffee will have. If you want something thinner that’s closer to a bark rather than a bar, use a larger baking sheet so the pretzels do not overlap.
  • TOFFEE MIXTURE: When boiling the butter and brown sugar mixture, keep a close eye on it. It should boil and thicken, but not burn. To prevent burning, it’s important to stir continuously!
  • CHOCOLATE: I recommend microwaving the chocolate in 30 second intervals to prevent any burning. White chocolate can be especially temperamental and prone to clumping, so it’s important to melt it down slowly. Once melted, pour the chocolate over the pretzel toffee while it’s warm to ensure that the layers stick together properly.
  • TOPPING: Adding toffee bits and extra pretzels on top are completely optional – sprinkles, chopped nuts, crushed graham crackers, sea salt, or toasted coconut would all be delicious toppings here as well. The wet chocolate acts as a glue for the toppings to stick to, so it’s important to add these while the chocolate is still wet.
  • CHILLING:  If you want to speed up the cooling process, you can transfer this Pretzel Toffee into the fridge or freezer until set. Once it’s completely cooled down and hardened, go ahead and break it apart before serving.
  • STORING: Transfer any leftovers into an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks. If you’d like to freeze your Pretzel Toffee for later, you can do that too. Make sure it’s in a freezer safe food storage container and place it in the freezer, where it’ll stay fresh for up to 3 months. Before you bite into a slice of frozen toffee (and possibly hurt your teeth), I recommend thawing to room temp on your counter for a couple hours.
