- Top the cream cheese layer with marinara sauce, being sure to spread the sauce edge to edge.
- Sprinkle your mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce layer, then place pepperoni slices on top of the mozzarella and garnish with more Italian seasoning.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then switch your oven to the broiler setting and broil for 1 minute or until the cheese is lightly golden.
Feel free to customize this pizza dip with your favorite toppings and cheeses. There’s something about crispy pepperoni that I just can’t resist, but don’t just stop there!
Mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions, sausage, and ham would all be delicious in this creamy dip.
Yes, I’m leaving pineapple out of that list intentionally 😉
My top tips:
- SOFTENED CREAM CHEESE: It’s important your cream cheese is softened so that it combines smoothly with the sour cream, parmesan, and seasonings. Using softened cream cheese also prevents this mixture from becoming lumpy and makes it much easier to spread into the bottom of your pie plate.
- MARINARA OR PIZZA SAUCE: Both will work in this recipe! Whatever you like best or have on hand is what I recommend using. If using marinara sauce, I do prefer to use one without added sugar so that it isn’t sweet, and you really get the fresh tomato flavor!
- FRESHLY SHRED YOUR CHEESE: I like shredding my own mozzarella for this recipe rather than buying pre-shredded at the grocery store. It’s not an absolute must but shredding the cheese yourself allows the cheese to melt better compared to pre-shredded cheese that usually has added starch to prevent clumping.
- BROILING THE TOP: Broiling this pizza dip makes the cheese perfectly golden on top, while keeping the inside ooey gooey! Just be sure to watch it closely because things tend to go from golden to burnt very quickly under the broiler. A minute or so is all the time it should take!
Pepperoni pizza dip is an easy appetizer that you can make ahead of time. This dip can be made up to 48 hours in advance, just cover and store in the fridge until you’re ready to bake and serve.
Transfer any leftovers to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat the potion you want in a microwave safe dish until warmed through!
Dips are the perfect appetizer for every kind of get together! If you’re looking for more easy appetizers, try these out!
