peanut butter popcorn

If you like my peanut butter popcorn, you’ll have to try my caramel marshmallow popcorn, cookies and cream popcorn, and churro popcorn too!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

This peanut butter popcorn is a sweet and salty peanut butter lover’s dream come true! It’s a soft and chewy caramel popcorn texture with the most delicious peanut butter flavor.

Peanut butter popcorn is one of my go to recipes for when I need something quick and easy to take to a party or to whip up for a movie night at home. It’s as simple as popping the popcorn, coating it in a sweetened peanut butter mixture, and optionally sprinkling in some reese’s pieces candies.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Microwave popcorn
  • Granulated sugar
  • Light corn syrup
  • Honey
  • Creamy peanut butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Reese’s Pieces

Traditional caramel corn is crunchy, whereas this peanut butter popcorn is soft and gooey. If you love peanut butter, and want an easier recipe than caramel corn, then this peanut butter popcorn is for you!

This is a delicious no-bake snack or dessert that can be made in less than 20 minutes and only requires a handful of ingredients! It’s fast, easy, and fun to munch on! Everyone loves this popcorn!

How to make the best peanut butter popcorn:

  • Add your popcorn to a mixing bowl, making sure to remove any unpopped kernels, then set aside for later.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and honey. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then continue boiling for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla extract. Pour the peanut butter mixture over your popcorn, then mix to coat evenly.
  • Transfer the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, then sprinkle with Reese’s Pieces and let cool completely.

Having a movie night at home with the family? Skip the traditional popcorn and make this sweet, peanut butter coated version instead! Simple, quick, and perfect for holidays and party snacking too!

Peanut butter popcorn has an addictively rich, decadent flavor that is hard to resist! If you’re a lover of all things sweet and salty, try using movie theater butter as the base in this recipe. It balances out all the sweetness from the creamy peanut butter sauce perfectly!

My top tips:

  • POPCORN: Feel free to pop your own popcorn over the stovetop, use the microwave bags, or buy pre-popped popcorn from the store. Just be sure to remove any unpopped kernels in advance.
  • MELTING: It’s important that you’re continuously stirring the sugar, corn syrup, and honey mixture to prevent any burning. Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil, you’ll want to continue boiling for exactly two minutes. The longer you cook this mixture, the less chewy the popcorn will be.
  • MOVE QUICKLY: Once your peanut butter mixture is melted and smooth, you’ll need to move quickly to coat popcorn before the mixture begins to cool and set up. I like using a rubber spatula to mix, as this avoids crushing the popcorn too much.
  • COOLING: I recommend transferring the coated popcorn onto a lined baking sheet to finish cooling. This prevents the popcorn from clumping together and ensures all the peanut butter coating has set before storing or enjoying!
  • REESE’S PIECES: I like adding some Reese’s Pieces candy into my peanut butter popcorn because, well, why not? You can either add them once the popcorn has cooled or do it while still warm to let the candies become soft and slightly melty. M&M’s or chopped Butterfinger pieces would be great as well!
  • STORING: This is one of those recipes that tastes best day of so that the popcorn doesn’t become stale and lose its crunchy texture. Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for 1-2 days, but this really is best enjoyed day of.
