Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats turn store-bought marshmallow treats into spooky-cute monsters with a chocolate face, sprinkle hair, marshmallow bolts, and candy eyes!

Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats

Halloween is all about creativity — costumes, creepy decorations, and of course, festive treats! If you’re looking for more festive treats, check out my Oreo Spiders, Pretzel Eyeballs, Oreo Witch Hat Cookies, Nutter Butter Mummies, and Pumpkin Patch Dirt Cups!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

When it comes to Halloween treats, presentation is everything — and these Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats are an instant crowd-pleaser. Their green candy coating, black sprinkle “hair,” and candy eyes give them a playful, spooky-cute vibe that fits right in at any Halloween celebration. They’re also:

  • Effortless to make: No stovetop, no oven, and no sticky marshmallow mess.
  • Kid-friendly: Perfect for little hands to help decorate.
  • Party-ready: Individually portioned, easy to serve, and travel well.

These Halloween Rice Krispie treats are the perfect last-minute addition to your dessert line-up – fast, easy, and made from just a few store-bought ingredients!

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Rice Krispies treats- store-bought
  • Light green candy melts
  • Vegetable oil
  • Black sprinkles
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Candy eyes

If you’re looking for a dessert that’s cute, delicious, and easy to make, Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats are a monster hit. These green, chocolate-topped marshmallow treats with candy faces are the perfect blend of spooky and sweet — and they’ll disappear from your party table faster than you can say “It’s alive!”

Halloween desserts should be fun to make and easy to share, and these treats check both boxes. With their bright green color, goofy candy eyes, and chocolate “hair,” they look just like little Frankensteins — no baking skills or artistic talent required.

The best part? You don’t even need to make the treats from scratch. By starting with store-bought Rice Krispies Treats, you can skip straight to the decorating and get right to the fun. In less than 30 minutes, you’ll have a tray of adorable edible monsters that are as tasty as they are spooky!

How to make the best Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats:

  • Remove the rice krispie treats from the wrappers and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Pour the green candy melts and vegetable oil into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  • Pour the black jimmies sprinkles into a small bowl and set aside.
  • Dip the top half of each rice krispie treat into the green candy melts, then directly into the black sprinkles and return to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Stick mini marshmallows onto the sides of each head for neck bolts, then stick on two candy eyes.
  • Let the chocolate set completely before enjoying!

Halloween is all about creativity — and that includes your snacks! If you want a treat that’s festive, fun, and takes almost no time at all, these Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats are your perfect monster match. By starting with store-bought Rice Krispies Treats, you can skip straight to the fun part — decorating! They’re adorable, delicious, and practically foolproof.

Let’s be honest — Rice Krispies Treats are a nostalgic classic for a reason. The combination of gooey marshmallow, crispy cereal, and buttery sweetness is irresistible. The chocolate topping here adds a rich contrast, while the slight crunch from the candy decorations gives each bite some playful texture.

Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats are everything a Halloween dessert should be: easy, festive, kid-friendly, and wickedly delicious. Whether you’re hosting a spooky soirée or just looking for a fun kitchen project, these little monsters will definitely bring your Halloween spread to life.

My top tips:

  • RICE KRISPIE TREATS: Using store-bought Rice Krispie Treats makes this recipe quick and easy! If you want to make homemade Rice Krispie Treats, I recommend using a recipe that fits a 9×13 pan.
  • CANDY MELTS: if you can’t find light green chocolate wafers (AKA candy melt), feel free to melt white chocolate chips and add a little green food coloring until you reach your desired shade of green.
  • VEGETABLE OIL: Adding a little vegetable oil to the chocolate is my secret trick for silky smooth chocolate every time! The vegetable oil thins out the chocolate and makes it much easier to dip the rice krispie treats.
  • SPRINKLES:  I like topping these with jimmies because they have the shape of tiny hairs, but you could also use your favorite halloween sprinkle mix or chocolate sprinkles. It’s just important to top these while the chocolate is still wet. The wet chocolate acts as a glue, then once the chocolate sets, the hair, neck bolts, and eyes will stay in place.
  • NECK BOLTS: Mini marshmallows are my favorite thing to use for the neck bolts because they stick with the marshmallow rice krispie theme, but you could also use Rolo candies, or broken pretzel sticks
  • CHILLING: You can let the chocolate set at room temperature, but it will take longer for the chocolate to fully harden. To speed up the process, feel free to place these Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats in the fridge for 30 minutes to set the chocolate.
  • STORING: Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or at room temperature for up to 1 week. For optimal freshness and to prevent them from going stale, keep them in a well-sealed container to maintain their crisp texture.
