- Vanilla extract

Store-bought cinnamon rolls make this recipe super quick and easy! With only 6 ingredients and a little prep time, pre-made cinnamon rolls get transformed into a decadent treat that no one would ever guess uses a shortcut!
Thanks to this easy shortcut, apple pie bubble up takes 10 minutes to assemble and can be on the table in less than 1 hour from start to finish!
How to make the best apple pie bubble up:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×13 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine apple pie filling, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract, then set aside.
- Open your cans of cinnamon rolls and set aside the icing for later. Cut each cinnamon roll into 4 pieces, then add the cinnamon roll pieces to your apple mixture and mix to combine.
- Transfer the mixture into your 9×13 baking pan, evenly drizzle heavy cream on top, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before drizzling on the reserved icing and enjoying!
Made with cut up cinnamon rolls, an easy apple filling, and vanilla glaze, this is a tasty mashup that reminds me of monkey bread and a bubble-up bake all in one! If you’re feeling crazy, you could even enjoy it alongside a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Apple pie bubble up is a warm, gooey, cinnamon roll-like casserole that’s perfect for those cool winter nights, Sunday morning breakfast or just because. This bubble up is sure to be one you will want to make again and again!
My top tips:
- APPLE PIE FILLING: I love the shortcut of using store-bought apple pie filling in this recipe. It makes this recipe super quick and easy to whip up. If you have a homemade apple pie filling recipe you’d like to use, go ahead!
- CINNAMON ROLLS: I use the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls that come with 8 cinnamon rolls per can. You can use the Pillsbury Grands 5 count cinnamon rolls too, just cut each one into 6 pieces rather than 4 pieces.
- HEAVY CREAM: Drizzling heavy cream on top of this apple pie bubble up before baking makes the cinnamon rolls rich, soft, and significantly gooier, by allowing the cream to absorb into the dough while baking.
- VANILLA ICING: Be sure to reserve the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls! This is what you’ll top the cobbler with when it’s done baking. The icing will be thick and spreadable, so if you want it to be more of a drizzling consistency, warm it in the microwave for 10 seconds.
- COOLING: I do recommend letting this cinnamon roll peach cobbler cool for 5-10 minutes before drizzling the icing over top. This gives the cinnamon rolls a chance to soak up all the apple pie filling.
- STORING LEFTOVERS: You can transfer any leftovers into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I just reheat in the microwave as needed!
Apple pie bubble up is great to prep in advance too! Simply assemble ahead of time by combining it all in the casserole dish, then cover and place in the fridge overnight. In the morning, simply uncover, drizzle on the heavy cream, and bake! I wouldn’t prepare this further than 24 hours in advance prior to baking.
