Lucky Charms Treats are soft, chewy cereal bars made with gooey marshmallows and crunchy Lucky Charms, then dipped in creamy green-tinted white chocolate for a festive and fun St. Patrick’s Day dessert!

Lucky Charms Treats

Looking for another St. Patties Day treat? My Lucky Charms Snack Mix is a sweet and salty mix full of popcorn, chex, lucky charms cereal, pretzels, and more all coated in white chocolate!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

If you love classic cereal bars but want something a little more colorful and fun, Lucky Charms marshmallow treats are the perfect dessert to make. They’re soft, chewy, sweet, and packed with crunchy cereal and those iconic pastel marshmallows everyone loves. Think of them as a playful twist on traditional rice krispie treats, but with a burst of color and a little extra magic in every bite!

These treats are incredibly easy to make and require only a few simple ingredients. Since they’re a no-bake dessert, they come together quickly and are perfect for everything from family gatherings to school parties. They’re especially popular during St. Patrick’s Day and spring celebrations, but honestly, they’re delicious enough to enjoy any time of year.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Mini marshmallows- divided
  • Butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Lucky Charms cereal
  • White chocolate chips
  • Vegetable oil
  • Green food coloring

Lucky Charms Treats have become a favorite twist on the classic cereal bar because they combine nostalgia with a little bit of fun magic. Most people grew up eating Lucky Charms cereal, so turning it into a dessert instantly feels playful and familiar.

Instead of plain rice cereal, the bars are packed with crunchy cereal pieces and those iconic pastel marshmallow shapes. When they’re mixed with melted marshmallows and butter, the result is a chewy, sweet treat with little pops of color in every bite.

The real magic comes from the colorful Lucky Charms marshmallows scattered throughout the bars. They add pops of color and sweetness that make these treats feel fun and nostalgic at the same time.

Dipping them in green white chocolate also adds a creamy sweetness and a festive look that makes them perfect for holidays or parties. It’s a small extra step that makes them feel extra special!

How to make the best Lucky Charms Treats:

  • Pick out about 1/2 cup of the marshmallows from the Lucky Charms cereal for topping the bars later, then line a 9×9 inch pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large pot over medium-low heat, combine 7 cups mini marshmallows and butter. Sir continuously until melted and smooth.
  • Remove from the heat, then stir in the vanilla extract and fold in the Lucky Charms cereal.
  • Fold in the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows, then transfer to your prepared pan.
  • Lightly press into an even layer, then top with the reserved Lucky Charms marshmallows and let the treats stand at room temperature until set, about 1 hour.
  • Use the parchment paper to remove the treats from the pan, then use a sharp knife to cut the treats into equal sized squares.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in-between, until melted and smooth.
  • Add green food coloring into the melted white chocolate,  adding a few drops until you reach your desired shade of green.
  • Dip the bottoms of each treat into the green chocolate, then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and let set completely before enjoying!

Part of the appeal of this recipe is how simple and fast it is. You don’t need any fancy equipment, complicated steps, or baking skills. Everything comes together in one pot and a microwave-safe bowl for the chocolate.

They’re also easy to customize. Some people like to drizzle extra chocolate on top, while others add sprinkles or extra Lucky Charms marshmallows (like I did) for decoration. However you make them, they always end up looking colorful and fun!

While these treats are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, they also work beautifully as a spring dessert. The bright colors and playful cereal marshmallows feel cheerful and light, which makes them great for spring parties, Easter celebrations, or casual weekend treats.

They’re the kind of dessert that instantly catches people’s attention on a dessert table. The green chocolate coating makes them stand out, and once someone takes a bite, the chewy marshmallow texture and sweet cereal flavor usually have them reaching for another!

My top tips:

  • LINE YOUR PAN: It’s important to line your baking pan with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent any sticking. These treats have a lot of marshmallows in them and are very chewy – if you don’t line your pan they will stick.
  • WORK WITH LOW HEAT: Make sure your heat is set to medium-low when melting down the butter and marshmallows. Doing this step slowly, and stirring continuously, will ensure that nothing burns, and your finished product will be super soft and chewy!
  • TOPPING: Adding extra Lucky Charms marshmallows on top makes the treats look more colorful, boosts the signature sweet flavor, and ensures every bite has the marshmallow pieces that everyone loves!
  • MELTING CHOCOLATE: I recommend microwaving the chocolate in 30 second intervals to prevent any burning. White chocolate can be especially temperamental and prone to clumping, so it’s important to melt it down slowly.
  • VEGETABLE OIL: Adding a little vegetable oil to the chocolate chips is my secret trick for silky smooth chocolate every time! The vegetable oil thins out the chocolate and makes it a better consistency for dipping.
  • FOOD COLORING: If you do not want to color your own chocolate, you can use green candy melts and microwave them according to package instructions instead. If you are using the white chocolate and dying it green, just start with 1-2 drops of food coloring until the desired color is reached.
  • CHILLING: You can let these treats set at room temperature, but if you want to speed up the process, feel free to place them in the fridge for 15 minutes to set the chocolate.
  • STORING: Place the treats in an airtight container and store them at room temperature. They keep for up to 4 days. If you made a few batches, place a piece of parchment paper between the layers to keep them from sticking together. I don’t recommend freezing these bars. The texture of the cereal gets a little soft after freezing.
