Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 (16 oz) can store-bought biscuits I recommend Pillsbury southern homestyle grands
  • 2 tbsp coarse pretzel salt
  • cheese sauce or honey mustard optional for dipping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Add 5 cups of water to a medium saucepan, then sprinkle in the baking soda and bring the water to a rolling boil.
  • In the meantime, cut each biscuit into 9 equal pieces. Once the water in boiling, drop the biscuit pieces into the baking soda bath (only 8-10 at a time) for 15-20 seconds.
  • Using a slotted spoon or spatula, remove the puffed biscuit bites from the baking soda bath and transfer them to your prepared baking sheet. Repeat with all the remaining biscuit pieces.
  • Sprinkle the tops with coarse salt and bake for 20-22 minutes or until deeply golden brown.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite cheese sauce or honey mustard for dipping.
